As Private Bilfen Antalya High Schools Biology Department, we organized our "Nature Conservation and Observation" trip for the second time this year at Belek Beach, the largest sea turtle nesting area in Turkey, with our 9th graders under the guidance of the Ecological Research Association (EKAD) on September 14-15, 2022.
With our EKAD research assistant guides, who have been working in Belek since April for the hatching of the baby sea turtles, we witnessed the opening of the nests of the baby turtles stuck in the nest, which they had been following before but they could not come out naturally, with great excitement. Hoping to see a live sea turtle every time the nests are opened, has multiplied the excitement of all our students.
When the field work was completed, Bilfen students collected the waste garbage on the beach that are harmful to all living things, wearing gloves and following the hygiene rules, and left them in recycling containers.
As Bilfen schools, we were very happy to see that our students became a part of nature conservation efforts and they expanded their ecological awareness happily by taking an active role in the field.
