Bilfen Antalya High School’s 5th Baby Caretta Caretta Conservation and Observation Trip

As the Biology Department of Private Bilfen Antalya Schools, we proudly and enthusiastically organized the 5th edition of our outdoor learning program this year — the “Baby Caretta Caretta Conservation and Observation Trip” with our 9th-grade students.

The event, held at Belek Beach — Turkey’s largest nesting area for sea turtles — took place under the guidance of the Ecological Research Association (EKAD) and offered our students unforgettable moments.

Hopes Meeting the Sea
Our journey began before sunrise, as students witnessed the opening of monitored turtle nests with EKAD researchers. During this special period in late August and September, when hatchlings make their way to the sea, our students held their breath at every nest opening, witnessing the beginning of new lives.
We were lucky! Over two days, our students had the opportunity to observe the challenging journey of baby sea turtles towards the sea — an awe-inspiring experience filled with excitement and joy.

Hand in Hand for Nature
Another important part of our trip was the beach cleanup activity. Wearing their gloves, our students collected litter that could harm marine life and the ecosystem and placed it in recycling containers. After taking this small yet meaningful step for nature, they were awarded Certificates of Appreciation by EKAD for their environmentally conscious efforts.

With Our Sincere Thanks
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ali Fuat Canbolat, President of EKAD, and to Fatih Polat, Project Coordinator and Field Supervisor at Kızılot, for their guidance and valuable support throughout this meaningful event.

Raising Ecological Awareness at Bilfen
As the Bilfen Antalya family, we are proud to see our students actively participating in nature conservation efforts. Thanks to this program, which has been running for five consecutive years, our students’ ecological awareness grows stronger every year.
We are proud of our students who protect nature, cherish life, and move forward in the light of science!
