On Thursday, November 27, the 9th grade students of Bilfen Science High School and Anatolian High School watched the theatre play “The Miser,” staged at the Atatürk Congress and Culture Center.
Adapted from Molière’s famous work and viewed within the scope of the Literature course’s “Cultural Activities” theme, the play offered both students and teachers an enjoyable and educational theatre experience.
Moreover, the event aimed to help students explore literary works not only through textbooks but also through performing arts. Literature teachers noted that seeing “The Miser” on stage, after studying it in class, greatly contributed to students’ understanding of the work.
The theatre team's strong performance, along with the stage design and decor, received full praise from the students. During the play, which humorously portrayed Harpagon’s conflicts rooted in miserliness, students both laughed and reflected. They expressed that watching the scenes they had studied in class brought the story to life and made it easier to understand.
The school administration stated that such cultural trips broaden students’ artistic perspectives and increase their interest in literature, adding that similar activities will continue.
In conclusion, Bilfen Science High School and Anatolian High School continue to enrich their educational program with activities that allow students to experience literature as a part of real life.
