Miletus Trip
In order to introduce our 10th grade students at Private İzmir Bilfen High Schools to their environment, social and cultural values within the scope of social sciences lessons and to ensure that philosophy, history and geography lessons are being taught in a practical environment, we have visited the Miletus Ancient City located in Didim district of Aydın, where philosophers such as Thales, Anaximenes and Anaksimandros were raised, the Miletus Museum and the Temple of Apollo, known as the oracle center of Miletus, the world's third largest temple built in Ionic style.
During the visit to the ancient city of Milet, which is the capital of philosophy, science and art, the information about the Miletus Ancient City and the Temple of Apollo was shared with our students in details in accordance with the gains and the projects to be realized in social lessons through the cooperation among philosophy, history and geography lessons.
Kula-Salihli Geopark Trip
With our 9th grade students from Private İzmir Bilfen Science and Anatolian High School, a trip and fieldwork was organized for the Kula-Salihli Geopark, which is the most important location in terms of geotourism in Manisa. Kula Salihli Geopark, the first and only UNESCO-labeled geopark of Turkey and the Turkish World, is one of the youngest volcanic areas in Turkey. The traces of volcanism in Kula (Katakekaumene) are as fresh as if they happened yesterday. Kula Salihli geopark is also one of the rare areas in the world where human footprints were found on volcanic tuffs in Salihli. Our students' discovering the land on-site, learning by touching, feeling, doing-living and examining both natural and cultural values contributed to their education.
