The Social Sciences Department of Bilfen Bahçeşehir High Schools aimed to raise awareness among students and to foster a meaningful sense of social solidarity through a social responsibility project. In line with this objective, a comprehensive seminar was held at our school with a presentation by Ms. Cemile Turgut, a sociologist working at LÖSEV, focusing on the foundation and mission of LÖSEV, as well as social awareness and the importance of volunteerism. During the seminar, students had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the challenges of leukemia treatment and the financial and emotional support provided by LÖSEV to families throughout this difficult process. The program significantly strengthened students’ awareness and sense of social responsibility and solidarity. The event was not limited to the seminar alone. Students of Bilfen Bahçeşehir High Schools also initiated a campaign to fulfill the wishes written on the “Wish Tree” by children receiving treatment at LÖSANTE Hospital in Ankara. The campaign expanded with the participation of Bilfen Çamlıca, Ankara, Bursa, and İskenderun High Schools. As a result of dedicated efforts carried out entirely on a voluntary basis, Bilfen High Schools students purchased toys with their own means and presented them as gifts to children undergoing leukemia treatment, bringing smiles to their faces. This meaningful project represents an important step in strengthening our students’ sense of social responsibility, empathy, and sensitivity toward social solidarity. We sincerely thank all our students who supported this process with great enthusiasm.
