Realistic Earthquake Drill at Bahçeşehir Bilfen High Schools

A comprehensive earthquake drill was conducted at Bahçeşehir Bilfen High Schools in collaboration with the departments of geography and biology and the BAŞAKAY Search and Rescue Team. Within the scope of the drill, students successfully carried out the “Drop-Cover-Hold On” procedure, which must be followed during a potential earthquake. In order to create a realistic training environment, three different scenarios were designed to demonstrate and explain how to respond to adverse situations that may occur after an earthquake.

  1. Scenario 1: A student who was assumed to be missing inside the building was searched for by the teams and safely located.

  2. Scenario 2: First aid was administered to an injured student, who was then transported to an ambulance, and the professional rescue process was demonstrated through hands-on practice.

  3. Scenario 3: A staff member who was trapped was rescued from their location with the help of a crane. This practice highlighted the importance of high-angle rescue techniques.

Through this drill, students had the opportunity to experience the correct actions that need to be taken during and after an earthquake. The school administration and BAŞAKAY teams emphasized that such exercises hold great importance for fostering disaster awareness.
