Private Bilfen Çayyolu High Schools Hacettepe University Biosphere Museum Trip

The Hacettepe University Biosphere Museum trip, organized for 9th-grade students, proved to be a highly productive activity that allowed students to observe the classification of living organisms firsthand. During the visit, students examined various species from different habitats displayed in the museum and evaluated these organisms according to taxonomic levels.
Throughout the trip, students were asked a series of questions as part of their performance assignment. These questions aimed to strengthen their scientific observation skills and help them transfer theoretical knowledge into practice. By examining the structural and functional characteristics of organisms, their habitats, and their similarities and differences, students had the opportunity to experience classification criteria in a real-world context. In this way, they gained a clearer understanding of the morphological and ecological factors used in determining taxonomic groups.
Thanks to this activity, students developed a closer appreciation of biological diversity while enhancing essential scientific skills such as observation, note-taking, data comparison, and drawing conclusions. Relating course content to real-life examples increased retention of knowledge and reinforced students’ interest in biology.

The Hacettepe University Biosphere Museum Trip has been a successful educational event, enabling students to learn about the classification of living organisms through hands-on experience and contributing significantly to their academic development and scientific perspective.
