MATHEMATICS FOR THE 1st TO 3rd GRADES
In Bilfen Schools, a structured, deepened and enriched "Instructional Mathematics Program" is applied with a support of personal differences of students at the highest level.
Students of Bilfen can:
- Use basic concepts of mathematics in other disciplines,
- Acquire the ability of mathematical thinking and judgement,
- Develop problem solving strategies and make use of these strategies in any problems encountered in their daily lives,
- Feel confident about mathematics and develop positive attitudes,
- Conduct researches, produce information and use this information.
The Instructional Mathematics Program contains such activities that place students at the centre and are enriched with materials allowing conceptual understanding.
Students' thinking about what they have learnt in mathematics courses and raising awareness about themselves are among the metacognitive skills of the 21st century. Station activities, competitions and trips are organized to enhance students' success and motivation in mathematics and suitable practices for employing metacognitive strategies are instructed.
The content of mathematics course is reinforced not only in classrooms with our personal workbooks and materials but also in mathematics laboratories and schoolyards with mathematical games.
